Currently making me smile...

Depois do Halloween ter passado, espero que se tenham divertido muito, assustado muito e que tenham gostado das ideias que a Joana nos trouxe para vos inspirar. A minha noite de Halloween foi passada a voar. Por aqui, mesmo longe, tenho tentado entrar no espírito do Outono o máximo possível. Preparando posts especiais para vocês nas minhas folgas, comprando velas com o cheiro da estação, pensando em looks possíveis para quando voltar a casa, planeando o que vou fazer enquanto estiver em Lisboa (hello brunch!!)... Parecendo que não, todas estas pequenas coisas me fazem sentir um pouco mais em casa e um pouco mais numa das minhas estações preferidas. Fiquem então com os meus favoritos dos últimos tempos, com muito cheiro a Outono (só para entrarmos mais um bocadinho no espírito)!

After Halloween is gone, I hope you had lots of fun, you scared a lot and that you enjoyed the ideas Joana brought to inspire you. My Halloween night was spent flying. Around here, even far away, I've been trying to get into Fall spirit as much as I can. Preparing special posts for you on my days off, buying candles with the smell of the season, imagining possible looks to when I get home, planning what to do while I'm in Lisbon (hello brunch!)... All these small things make me feel a little bit more at home and in one of my favorite seasons. So here are my favorite things from the past days, with a lot of Fall smell (just to get in the spirit a little bit more)!

Halloween 2016: Two Makeup Looks by Joana Pedro

Olá a todos! 

Hello lovelies!

Estamos no início de mais uma semana e numa época festiva com um toque arrepiante, o Halloween! Hoje trago-vos duas sugestões para a tão esperada noite do ano. A noite em que nos podemos despir de nós próprios e ser o que bem quisermos.

We are just starting another week and also a festive season with a creepy touch, Halloween! Today I bring you two suggestions for this long awaited night of the year. The night we can undress of ourselves and be whatever we want.

Começamos com algo mais típico do Halloween, um zombie!

Let's start with something more typical of Halloween, a zombie! 

 

Confesso que inicialmente o meu objectivo era fazer uma maquilhagem de vampiro, mas depois de me lembrar da saga Twilight, só os consigo imaginar com a maquilhagem a dar tudo e de forma super glamourosa.

I have to admit that initially my goal was to do a vampire makeup look, but then I remembered the Twilight saga, and I can only imagine them with super glamorous makeup. 

 

Para o nosso zombie comecei por preparar a pele normalmente, mas optei por uma base um pouco mais clara do que o meu tom de pele, só para dar um aspecto mais claro (e na realidade nem ficou muito). Depois matifiquei-a ligeiramente com um pó compacto. Fiz o contorno do rosto bem marcado, para que desse a ideia de que o meu rosto é mais magro do que na realidade e optei por iluminar um pouco o rosto. Para os olhos fiz um esfumado em preto e puxei bem para fora do olho, só para dar um toque diferente. Acompanhei o esfumado na parte de baixo do olho, não me preocupando com as olheiras, pois se somos zombies podemos tê-las. Por fim iluminei abaixo da sobrancelha com uma sombra cintilante. Não utilizei blush na pele, pois os zombies não estão propriamente vivos.

For our zombie I prepared the skin normally, but I chose a slightly lighter foundation than my skin tone, just to give a clearer appearance (in fact it doesn't look a lot lighter). After that I used a compact powder. I contoured the face, so my face would look thinner than it really is and I chose to highlight the face a little bit. For the eyes I did a smoky eye in black and pulled it out of the eye, just to give a different touch. I also smoked the bottom line of the eye, not worrying about the dark circles, because if we are zombies we can have them. Finally I highlighted below the brow with a shimmering shade. I didn’t use blush on the skin, because zombies are not really alive. 

Para dar uns toques mais pessoais no nosso zombie, apliquei um lápis branco na linha d’água inferior, para dar a ilusão de uns olhos maiores. Para um efeito de olhos cansados, apliquei uma sombra vermelha abaixo dos olhos, bem junto ao esfumado preto. Decidi fazer um buraco na testa, podemos ser uns zombies assim fresquinhos, acabados de transformar (ahahah). Para finalizar o look, utilizei um batom escuro, um burgundy com um subtom castanho, e apliquei sangue falso nos cantos da boca e no buraco da testa.

To give some personal touches to our zombie, I applied a white pencil on the bottom waterline, to give the illusion of larger eyes. For the appearance of tired eyes I applied a red shadow under the eyes really close to the black. I decided to make a hole on the forehead, we could be a fresh new zombie, just finishing transformation (ahahah). To finish the look, I used a dark lipstick, a burgundy color with a brown undertone, and applied fake blood in the corners of the mouth and in the forehead hole.

O que acharam do nosso zombie? Até gostei do resultado final.

What did you think of our zombie? I actually liked the final result. 

Mas porque nem tudo no Halloween tem de ser assustador, decidi fazer uma outra maquilhagem, algo mais divertido. Uma criatura marítima, decidi chamar-lhe Marbabe (sim, estava inspirada).

But because not everything on Halloween has to be scary, I decided to make another makeup look, something funnier. A sea creature, I decided to call it Seababe (I guess I was inspired). 

Para a nossa “marbabe”, preparei normalmente a pele. Abusei um pouco do blush e do iluminador, porque queria um rosto bem marcado e muito luminoso. Preenchi as sobrancelhas, pois a nossa criatura marítima tinha de estar “a dar tudo”. Para os olhos, comecei por fazer um esfumado num tom azul vivo, bem cintilante, puxando sempre para fora do olho (acho que começa a ser a minha imagem). Apliquei um tom verde no côncavo, esfumando bem com o azul. Aqueci o côncavo com um tom castanho alaranjado e escureci ligeiramente o canto externo com um azul um pouco mais escuro. Acompanhei todo o esfumado na parte de baixo do olho. Iluminei abaixo da sobrancelha e no canto interno do olho. Para finalizar os olhos, apliquei um lápis branco na linha d’água e usei e abusei da máscara de pestanas.

For our "seababe", I prepared the skin as I usually do. I used a lot of blush and highlighter, because I wanted a sculpted and very luminous face. I filled in the eyebrows, because our sea creature had to be on her best. For the eyes, I began the smoky eyes with a sparkling blue color, always pulling out of the eye (I think it's starting to be my image). I applied a green shadow on the concave and blended it very well with the blue. I heated the concave with an orange brown tone and slightly darkened the outer corner with a darker blue. I followed the whole smoky eye at the bottom of the eye. I highlighted below the brow and on the inner corner of the eye. To finish the eyes, I applied a white pencil on the waterline and used loads of mascara. 

Para finalizar a nossa criatura marítima em grande, decidi fazer uns lábios completamente diferentes.

Apliquei um hidratante labial e por cima utilizei uma sombra prateada com um subtom azul. Adorei a cor final, fiquei com uns lábios metálicos, mas num tom frio que me faz muito lembrar o mar.

To finalize our sea creature I decided to make completely different lips. I applied a lip balm and over that I used a silver shadow with a blue undertone. I loved the final color, I had metallic cold lips that really reminds me of the sea. 

O que acharam da nossa Marbabe? Gostei bastante de como ficou.

TOP 20: Fashion Trends for Fall/Winter 2016

O Outono chegou em força e pelo que sei em Portugal já chove e sente-se o frio a chegar aos poucos. Enquanto escrevo este post, em Ríade, estão 33 graus, mas sempre é melhor do que os 45 graus de Agosto (ufa!). Já estou ansiosa por chegar a casa e começar a tirar os meus casacos e as minhas botas do armário, e melhor ainda, ver as cores do Outono na minha cidade! Hoje vamos falar das principais tendências para este Outono/Inverno. Quais os tecidos, estilos e cores mais usadas e quais são aquelas peças obrigatórias em que podemos investir à vontade. Conseguem perceber que estou entusiasmada com a chegada desta estação, não é? Então vamos lá começar!
Fall is in full swing and for what I've heard in a lot of countries is raining already and you can feel the cold slowly arriving. While I write this post, in Riyadh, it's 33 degrees, but it's still better than the 45 that we had in August (ouch!). I'm already so excited to get to Lisbon and start pulling out my coats and boots and, better yet, to see the Fall colors in my city! Today we're going to talk about the main trends for this Fall/Winter. What are the most used materials, styles and colors and what are those mandatory pieces in which we can and should invest. By now you already understood how excited I am with the arrival of this season, right? So let's get started!

VELVET

Veludo: sem dúvida o tecido desta estação! Deixou de ser usado apenas em preto, para chegar até nós em todas as cores possíveis e imaginárias. Se conjugado com outras peças no mesmo tom, dá o acabamento perfeito e luxuoso que só este tecido sabe dar.
Velvet: definitely this season's trend! No longer confined to the black color, it has arrived in all possible colors. If mixed with other pieces in the same range of colors, it gives us the perfect and luxurious look that only this material could provide.

SUEDE

Desde 2015 que esta tendência dá que falar. Este ano embora tenha sido um pouco substituída pelo veludo, pode continuar nos nossos armários. É um dos tecidos mais suaves do nosso guarda-roupa de inverno e vai ser visto em vestidos, calças e casacos. Podem continuar a apostar na camurça!
This trend has been big since 2015. This year although it was somewhat replaced by velvet, it can still be in our closets. It's one of the softest materials in our Winter wardrobe and it will be seen in dresses, pants and coats. You can still wear suede!

METALLICS

Os tons metálicos voltaram em grande esta estação! Porém, chegaram um pouco mais discretos. Podem ser usados apenas nos sapatos ou numa saia longa ou num vestido pelas mais ousadas. De qualquer uma das formas, o movimento de uma peça num tom metálico não tem como nos deixar mal.
The mettalics returned this season! However, they are now a little bit more discreet than before. They can be used only on shoes or on a long skirt or dress for the bolder ones. Anyway, the movement of a mettalic clothing piece will never disappoint us.

BLUSH

 

A cor Pantone deste ano chegou para ficar. Rendemo-nos a ela durante as estações quentes e agora vai continuar nos nossos armários, principalmente nos nossos casacos, mas também nos nossos corações.
This year's Pantone color is here to stay. We fell in love during the warmer seasons and now it will stay in our closets, specially on our coats, but also in our hearts.

FALL FLORALS

Parece estranho mas o padrão preferido da Primavera vai ser usado nas estações frias, tanto em vestidos longos, como em calças, casacos e até nas botas. Quem diria? Parece que as flores vieram para ficar. 
It may sound weird, but Spring's favorite pattern will be also used during the cold seasons, whether in long dresses, pants, coats or even boots. Who would say? It seems flowers are here to stay.

ANIMAL PRINT

Falamos de padrões de animal todos os anos, mas este ano o leopardo é o nosso favorito. Além de sofisticado, sexy e neutro, é divertido e vai de certeza animar o nosso guarda-roupa.
We talk about animal prints every year, but this year leopard is our favorite. Besides being sophisticated, sexy and neutral, it's fun and it will definitely cheer up our closet.

PLAID

 

Podem manter nos armários aqueles cachecóis/mantas em xadrez que compraram o ano passado. Este ano continuam a ser usados, e eu adoro a ideia. Porém, o xadrez esta estação também pode ser usado em looks totais, como por exemplo num macacão ou num vestido longo. 

You can keep in your closets those scarves/blankets in plaid that you got last year. This year they keep on going, and I love that idea! However, this season plaid can also be used in total looks, such as with a jumpsuit or a long dress.

MESSAGES

Para fugir um pouco dos padrões, chegam até nós as mensagens. Estas adornam as camisolas e até mesmo as calças e podem ser frases irónicas, logótipos de marcas, nomes de marcas, frases inteligentes e captivantes. Tudo é permitido desde que chame a atenção e nos faça pensar.

To escape a little bit from patterns and prints, there are messages. These compliment blouses and even pants and they can be ironical sentences, logos, brand names, smart and captivating quotes. Everything is allowed as long as it grabs our attention and makes us think.

TURTLENECK

As camisolas de gola alta saem sempre do armário nesta altura do ano. Correcto. Mas este ano surgem com uma pequena diferença, são usadas por baixo de vestidos. Exacto, leram bem! Este Outono/Inverno vão poder usar aquele vestido lindo e com um decote maravilhoso, que noutros tempos ficaria guardado no armário até chegar o calor novamente. 

Turtlenecks always come out of the closet this time of year. Correct. But this year they arrived with a small difference, they are used under dresses. Exactly, you read that right! This Fall/Winter you will be able to wear that beautiful long dress with that amazing neckline, that before would be stuck in the closet until the hot weather would come out again.

BELL SLEEVES

As mangas das blusas nesta estação querem-se grandes e vistosas, por isso nada de ter medo de arriscar. O fundamental é saber conjugá-las com peças simples, sem volume, de forma a não parecermos um balão.

This season the sleeves have to be big and flashy, so there's no need to be afraid of taking a chance. The most important things is to know how to mix them with simple pieces, that have no volume, so we don't look like a balloon.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOP

E quem disse que com a chegada do frio não podemos continuar a mostrar os ombros? Agora podemos mostrá-los com tecidos muito mais luxuosos e em modelos muito mais dramáticos, mas sempre sem perder a sensualidade.
And who said that with the arrival of cold weather we can't show our shoulders anymore? Now we can show them in more luxurious materials and in dramatic models, but always without loosing that sexiness.

ONE SLEEVE TOP

Além dos dois ombros à mostra, surgem também as blusas com apenas uma manga para quando quisermos variar. Para looks assimétricos e um pouco mais quentes para esta estação do ano, para quando dois ombros já é demais! 

Besides the two shoulders showing, we also have blouses with just one sleeve for when we want to be different. For asymmetrical and warmer looks, when two shoulders is too much! 

BOMBER JACKET

O bomber jacket, muito utilizado antigamente pelos pilotos militares, continua também presente esta estação e já não é usado apenas em cores como o verde tropa ou o preto, mas chega até nós com flores e em seda para um ar mais feminino.
The bomber jacket, used by military pilots in the old days, keeps on going when it comes to fashion and this season it's no longer used only in khaki or black, but it comes to us with flowers and silk for a more feminine look.  

CAPE

As capas chegaram e parece que não vão a lado nenhum tão cedo. E ainda bem! Este ano chegam um pouco diferentes, pois incluem brilhos, lantejoulas, bordados, fendas maiores e até materiais translúcidos. Há algo para todos os gostos.

Capes don't seem to go anywhere any time soon. And I'm glad! This year they arrived a little bit different, because they include sparkle, sequins, embroidery, bigger slits and even translucent materials. There's something for everyone.

MILITARY

Este ano até podíamos substituir o casaco clássico na cor camel pelo casaco militar (ou então não! nunca!). O estilo militar chegou em força, principalmente com os casacos não só em verde tropa, mas também em cinza, preto e azul escuro. Podem investir!
This year we could replace our classic camel coat by the military coat (or not! never!). The military style is here, specially on coats and this time not only in khaki, but also in gray, black and navy. Go ahead, try it!

SLEEPWEAR

Mais uma tendência que não acabou na Primavera/Verão. Os famosos slip dresses e roupa estilo pijama vão continuar a ser usados esta estação, conjugados com peças mais quentes como casacos, sobretudos, camisolas de gola alta, calças e saias assimétricas. Juntamente com rendas, transparências e aliada ao veludo, esta tendência tem tudo para ser uma das mais sexys da estação.

Another trend that didn't end in Spring and Summer. The famous slip dresses and pajama style clothing will continue to be used this season, mixed with warmer pieces such as coats, overcoats, turtlenecks, pants and asymmetrical skirts. Together with lace, transparencies and allied to velvet, this trend has everything to be one of the sexier trends of the season.

CHOKER

Existe o lenço ao pescoço (já lá vamos!) e depois existem as gargantilhas. Um mundo completamente à parte! Estas querem-se grandes e largas, tapando completamente o pescoço e adicionando aquele toque especial ao look. Para serem usadas com camisas ou vestidos de cocktail.

There is the neck tie (we're getting there!) and then there is the chokers. A completely different world! These are wanted big and large, completely covering the neck and adding that special touch to any look. To be used with button downs or cocktail dresses.

NECK TIE

Esta tendência desapareceu durante uns tempos mas rapidamente voltou à ribalta. Não falamos de qualquer lenço, mas de preferência de um lenço fininho de seda ou veludo, que caia sobre uma roupa em cor contrastante ou então que tenha o mesmo padrão da blusa.

This trend disappeared for a while but soon returned to the spotlight. We're not talking about any tie here, but preferably a silky or velvety skinny tie, that falls down on a contrasting color or has the same color of the blouse.

HIGH BOOTS

Ora esta tendência já não é novidade para nós. As botas podem e devem ser usadas até à coxa, nunca ultrapassando esta zona, com vestidos, mini-saias e casacos compridos, para um ar elegante e sexy ao mesmo tempo.
Well this trend brings nothing new for us. Boots can and should be used until the thigh, never going over that area, with dresses, mini-skirts and long coats, for an elegant and sexy look.

WHITE BOOTIES

Este Outono/Inverno podemos substituir os nossos botins pretos pelos botins brancos. São como uma lufada de ar fresco para os nossos looks invernosos e ficam muito bem conjugados com saias ou até vestidos. Experimentem!
This Fall/Winter we can replace our black booties for the white booties. They're like a breath of fresh air for our winter looks and they look so good with skirts and even dresses. Try it!
