Oscars 2017: My Favorite Looks

Primeiro que tudo sinto que preciso de explicar o porquê do blog ter estado parado estas últimas três semanas! Eu em casa trabalho no MAC mas quando vou para fora levo o meu portátil da Toshiba. Infelizmente assim que cheguei a Jeddah nesta rotação o meu computador decidiu não ligar e portanto fiquei sem poder trabalhar o tempo todo que lá estive, o que para mim foi bastante complicado porque o computador faz-me imensa falta e não consigo fazer tudo no telemóvel. Por milagre o computador voltou a funcionar assim que cheguei a Lisboa (acho que estava com saudades de casa!), e espero que não me volte a pregar uma partida destas. Peço imensa desculpa, mas prometemos que agora vamos compensar com muito bom conteúdo, por isso fiquem atentos :)

First of all I feel I need to explain why there were no posts during the last three weeks! I work on my MAC when I'm at home but when I travel I take my Toshiba laptop with me. Unfortunately as soon as I got to Jeddah on this rotation, my laptop decided to die on me and I couldn't work the entire time I was there, which was very complicated to me because my computer is very important for my work and I can't do everything on my phone. Like a miracle, the computer started working again once I arrived to Lisbon (I guess it was missing home!), and I hope it stays that way. I'm really sorry, but we promise that we'll make it up for you with very nice content, so stay tuned :)

Vamos então ao post de hoje! Ontem decorreu a 89ª Gala dos Óscares e os olhos estiveram todos voltados para a passadeira vermelha como já é costume. Infelizmente o cansaço era tanto que não consegui ficar acordada para ver a gala, mas já me pus a par de tudo e vim mostrar-vos, como sempre, os meus looks preferidos. Tenho a dizer que não tinha tantos preferidos numa só gala há bastante tempo, as senhoras esmeraram-se mesmo! Como sempre o clássico preto e branco esteve muito presente, mas vimos também muitos metálicos, que estão muito na moda agora, e o maravilhoso vermelho claro! Mais uma vez o veludo provou que vai continuar a ser a tendência do ano e os bordados e rendas trouxeram toda a feminilidade que uma passadeira vermelha podia pedir. Fiquem com os meus preferidos.

Let's move on to today's post then! Yesterday the 89th gala of the Oscars took place and all eyes were on the red carpet as always. Unfortunately I was so tired that I didn't manage to stay awaken to see the gala, but I already did my research and I'm here to show you, as always, my favorite looks. I have to say that I didn't have these many favorites in just one gala for a long time, these ladies really made an effort! As always the classic black and white were present, but we also saw a lot of metallics which are really in right now, and the amazing red of course! Once again velvet proved that it will continue to be this year's trend and embroidery and lace brought all the femininity that a red carpet could ask for. Take a look at my favorites.

Travel Diary: One Day in Snowy Bratislava

O nosso último dia ficou reservado para irmos até Bratislava (Eslováquia), pois Viena e Bratislava são consideradas as duas capitais europeias mais próximas uma da outra, apenas à distância de uma hora de comboio. Tínhamos de aproveitar estar ali tão perto para ir conhecer outra cidade. E assim o fizemos, logo bem cedo apanhámos o comboio e passado cerca de uma hora estávamos em Bratislava. Ao começarmos a aproximar-nos da cidade começámos a ver tudo à nossa volta cheio de neve, e pensámos que seria apenas nos locais mais afastados do centro, mas enganámo-nos, a cidade ainda estava toda branquinha desde o último nevão. Este dia foi super divertido, mas frio (muito frio!).

Our last day was saved to go to Bratislava (Slovakia), because Vienna and Bratislava are considered the two most near European capitals, only at the distance of one hour by train. We had to go there and get to know another city. And so we did, first ting in the morning we hoped on the train and one hour later we were in Bratislava. Getting closer to the city we started to see everything around us full of snow, and we thought that would be only in the most remote places, away from the centre, but we were wrong, the entire city was still white. This was a super fun day, but cold (very cold!).

Ao sairmos do comboio, apanhámos um autocarro que em cinco minutos chegou ao centro da cidade. Percebemos imediatamente que Bratislava era uma cidade pequenina e seria perfeita para ver apenas num dia. Começámos logo bem, pois o autocarro deixou-nos mesmo ao lado do Palácio Grassalkovich, onde mora o Presidente, e ainda tivemos a sorte de chegar mesmo na altura do render da guarda. Daí partimos para o centro histórico da cidade, que ficava a 5/10 minutos a pé.

When we left the train, we got on a bus that left us in the middle of the city in just five minutes. We soon realised that Bratislava was a small little town and it would be perfect to see in just one day. We started visiting it immediately, because the bus left us right next to the Grassalkovich Palace, where the President lives, and we were lucky to get there and the gards were doing their thing. From there we went to the historical centre, which was 5/10 minutes walking from there.

 

 

Já na entrada do centro histórico encontrámos o Primacialny Palac, ou Palácio dos Primados, que funciona agora como Câmara, e só por acaso tem a minha cor preferida, cor-de-rosa!

Entering the historical centre, we found the Primacialny Palac, the Primate's Palace, which now works as the Town Hall, and just by chance has my favorite color, blush!

 

Bratislava é famosa por ter pelas ruas várias estátuas em poses muito originais, sendo que cada uma representa alguém ou simboliza algo relacionado com a história da cidade. O mais famoso e engraçado é o Čumil, o senhor que espreita pela tampa de esgoto no meio da rua (mais em baixo), mas há também o Ignaz, que levanta a sua cartola de forma a saudar as senhoras, e ainda o soldado francês vestido como Napoleão, que está encostado a um banco, e que representa o ataque das tropas napoleônicas à cidade e ao mesmo tempo diz-se que representa um soldado ferido que se apaixonou por uma enfermeira eslovaca e passou a viver em Bratislava desde aí. 

Bratislava is famous for having several statues on the streets, each one with a very original pose, and each one represents someone or simbolizes something related to the history of the city. The most famous and funny one is Čumil, the man that is peeking from the drains in the middle of the street (later on this post), but there's also Ignaz, which raises his topper to salute the ladies, and also the French soldier dressed as Napoleon, bent on a bench, who represents the attack of the Napoleonic troops to the city and at the same time people say it represents a wounded soldier who fell in love with a Slovenian nurse and moved to Bratislava since then.

Continuando a nossa viagem, fomos até ao Rio Danúbio, que não tínhamos tido a oportunidade de ver do lado da Áustria. No caminho passámos primeiro pelo Teatro de Bratislava. Quanto mais perto do rio, mais frio estava, por isso foi só o tempo de chegar lá, tirar as fotografias necessárias e voltar imediatamente para trás, de tão insuportável que era! Mas ainda assim, a vista compensou (um bocadinho vá, estava mesmo muito frio!!).

Continuing our trip, we went to the Danube River, which we didn't have the chance to see from the Austrian side. On our way there we stopped at Bratislava Theatre first. Nearer to the river, the cold would get even worse, so we got there, took the necessary photos and went back immediately, it was unbearable! But still, the view made up for it (a little bit, it was really really cold!!).

A próxima paragem tinha de ser a famosa Igreja Azul, ou Igreja de Santa Isabel. Estava fechada quando chegámos lá, mas deu para espreitar e ver como era por dentro. Sem dúvida a Igreja mais fofinha que eu já vi na vida, e ela é mesmo toda em azul, tal como o nome indica. Ora vejam só...

The next stop had to be the famous Blue Church. It was closed when we got there, but we did sneak a little bit to see the inside. Definitely the sweetest church I have ever seen, and its really all in blue, such as the name implies. Just look at it...

Depois de almoçarmos, decidimos ir até ao Castelo de Bratislava, bem no topo da cidade e com uma vista incrível para o rio e para o resto da cidade. Foi onde passámos mais tempo, pois decidimos entrar e conhecer mais profundamente o castelo e a história da cidade. Adorámos e quando saímos de lá já era noite! Fomos comprar os nossos souvenirs, comer, e voltámos para Viena. Que dia incrível! 

After lunch, we decided to go to Bratislava Castle, right on top of the city and with an amazing view to the river and the rest of the city. That's where we spend more time, because we decided to go in and get to know the castle and the city's history deeply. We loved it and when we left it was already dark! We bought our souvenirs, we ate, and we went back to Vienna. What an amazing day!
