Na passada sexta-feira pus-me a caminho do Norte de Portugal com o objectivo de ir visitar os Passadiços do Paiva. Quem segue o blog no Instagram teve acesso às fotos que fui partilhando do hotel onde fiquei em Entre-os-Rios e de como foi a aventura pelos Passadiços. Se não tiveram a oportunidade de ver, não se preocupem porque hoje mostro-vos tudo! Pessoal, preparem-se para um post muito verde!
Last Friday I went to the North of Portugal with the goal of visiting Paiva Walkways. If you follow the blog on Instagram you had access to the photos of the hotel where I stayed in and to how the adventure through the Walkways went. If you didn't have the opportunity to see it, do not worry because today I show you everything! Get ready for a lot of green people!
Os Passadiços do Paiva localizam-se mais especificamente em Arouca, em Aveiro, e estendem-se ao longo do Rio Paiva. São 8km de passeio, ou 16km caso voltem para trás (como aqui a louca fez!). O percurso pode começar em Areinho ou em Espiunca, onde existe uma praia fluvial em cada um, e ao longo do caminho é possível descobrir paisagens completamente intocáveis, onde se podem encontrar descidas de água, cristais de quartzo e algumas espécies em vias de extinção.
Paiva Walkways are located in Arouca, Aveiro, and go along the Paiva River. It's 8km, or 16km in case you do it twice (like the crazy one here did!). The path can start in Areinho or Espiunca, where there is a fluvial beach in each one, and along the way is possible to discover untouchable landscapes, where you can find waterfalls, quartz crystals and some species in extinction.
São 8700m de beleza natural e é realmente de tirar a respiração (literalmente falando!), ainda mais se se tiver a sorte de ir num dia de sol! Porém, é um percurso de dificuldade alta, que pode ser feito em 2h30 com um ritmo acelerado, mas se o objectivo for ir devagar para tirar fotografias e aproveitar a vista, o percurso vai demorar muito mais do que isso. Os 16km demoraram uma tarde inteira a fazer, e muito esforço envolvido. Existem muitos desníveis, escadas e terra batida pelo meio, que tornam o percurso muito mais complicado. E a meio do caminho podem encontrar também uma ponte suspensa, pela qual não é obrigatório passar pois encontra-se fora do percurso, mas que eu tive de percorrer várias vezes claro, para o bem de uma foto ou duas (ou trinta...) e porque é muito divertido!
It's 8700m of natural beauty and it really takes your breath away (literally speaking!), even more so if you're lucky to go on a sunny day! However, it's a high difficulty path, that can be done in 2h30 with a fast pace, but if the goal is to go slowly to take pictures and enjoy the view, the path will take a lot more than that. The 16km took an entire afternoon, with a lot of effort involved. There are a lot of accented gaps, stairs and dirt roads along the way, which make the path way more complicated. Along the way you can also find a suspension bridge, but you don't have to go trough it if you don't want it because it's located out of the path, but of course I had to walk though it several times for the sake of a picture or two (or thirty...) and because it's so much fun!
Eu diria que quem quiser fazer apenas os 8km e depois voltar de autocarro ou táxi, o passeio é fácil e muito bonito. Se o objectivo for fazer ida e volta, é necessário uma maior preparação física, muita resistência e força de vontade. A vontade de desistir a meio foi grande, mas não existe essa hipótese, pois ou se termina o percurso, ou volta-se para trás, e qualquer das opções inclui muitos Km pela frente. A força de vontade e o sentido de aventura tem de estar muito presente, e tudo começa pela mente.
I would say that for the ones who want to make the 8km and after go back with the bus or a taxi, the path is easy and very pretty. If the goal is to go and then come back, you definitely need physical preparation and a lot of strength of will. Sometimes I really wanted to quit, but that can not be a choice, because you either finish the path, or you go back, and either one of the options includes lots of km ahead. Strength of will and the sense of adventure need to be very present, and everything starts with the mind.

Escusado será dizer que nos dias seguintes eu mal conseguia andar, tal era a dor de pernas, mas sem dúvida que faria tudo outra vez (talvez daqui a uns meses ahah). Vale muito a pena na minha opinião, nem que seja pelo sentimento de realização depois de conseguir completar todo o percurso. E a isso junta-se um dia diferente, no meio da natureza, com uma paisagem maravilhosa.
I don't even have to say that on the following days I could barely walk, with such a pain of my legs, but I would definitely do it again (maybe in some months ahah). It's really worth it in my opinion, especially because of that feeling of accomplishment you get after you finish the entire path. And to that you add a different day, in the middle of nature, with a wonderful landscape.
