Acabada de voltar de uma das cidades mais lindas da Europa! Depois de já ter visitado algumas cidades na Europa, acho que posso afirmar com toda a certeza que Viena é uma das mais lindas capitais que já visitei. E vocês sabem o quanto eu amei Paris e Londres! Além de Viena, ainda dei um saltinho a Bratislava, mas iremos até lá mais tarde. Por agora, vou mostrar-vos tudo sobre os quatro dias que passei em Viena. Vamos a isto!
Just got back from one of the most beautiful cities in Europe! After having visited some cities in Europe, I think I can say that Vienna is one of the most beautiful capitals I have visited so far. And you know how much I loved Paris and London! Besides Vienna, I also went to Bratislava, but we'll go there later on. For now, I'll show you everything about the four days I spent in Vienna. Let's do this!
O nosso objectivo era ir directamente à Ópera logo de manhã, pois queríamos comprar os bilhetes para o espectáculo que iria haver nessa noite (não ir à Ópera durante a nossa estadia estava fora de questão!). Rapidamente nos apercebemos de que a Ópera não estava aberta nem iria abrir até à hora do espectáculo, o que nos fez decidir comprar os bilhetes online quando chegássemos ao hotel (mais sobre esta aventura no final do post). Decidimos então ir até ao Museu Albertina. Este Museu situa-se mesmo atrás da Ópera de Viena e dali é possível ver a beleza do edifício de um ângulo completamente diferente. Nem é preciso dizer que ficámos deslumbradas e ainda com mais vontade de ir lá dentro ver todos os detalhes! Mas isso iria ficar para outro dia, pensámos nós...
Our goal was to go straight to the Opera first thing in the morning, because we wanted to buy the tickets for the show they would have that night (not going to the Opera during our stay was out of question!). Quickly we realised that the Opera was not open and wouldn't open until the hour of the show, which made us decide to buy the tickets later that night when we got to the hotel (more on this adventure in the end of the post). We then decided to go to Albertina Museum. This Museum is located right behind the Opera and from there is possible to see the beauty of that building from a totally different angle. I don't even have to say that we were amazed by it and we wanted to go inside and check all the details even more now! But that would have to stay for another day, so we thought...
Das traseiras do Museu já era possível ver a Biblioteca Nacional e Hofburg, onde se encontra o Palácio e o Museu da Sissi, algo que queríamos muito visitar. Encontrar a entrada do Palácio foi mais uma aventura, pois tínhamos de dar a volta à Biblioteca e passar pelo Arco do Triunfo e pelos mapas isso não era fácil de entender. Mas como "quem tem boca vai a Roma", chegámos lá e adorámos conhecer a história de vida da Sissi!
In the back of the Museum we could already see the National Library and Hofburg, where the Sissi's Palace and Museum is located, something we really wanted to see. Finding the entrance of the palace was another adventure, because we had to go around the Library and go through the Arc and it was not easy to understand that on the maps. But we asked for help and we got there, and we loved to get to know Sissi's life story.
Viena tem uma boa rede de transportes. Tem metro, comboio, eléctrico e autocarros que ligam a cidade de uma ponta à outra e de uma forma muito rápida. Embora tenhamos tirado partido dos transportes várias vezes, também queríamos andar a pé e perdermo-nos pelas ruas e edifícios que tornam esta cidade tão maravilhosa. E foi o que fizemos depois, começámos a andar e fomos dar ao Volksgarten, um pequeno jardim, mesmo em frente ao Parlamento. Este edifício era mais uma vez de tirar a respiração. Depois da sessão de fotos completamente necessária e obrigatória, e de já estarmos congeladas com os 0 graus que se faziam sentir, estava na hora de almoçar e aquecer!
Vienna has very good public transports. It has metro, train, tram and bus that connect the entire city from one end to another and really fast. Although we used them very often, we also wanted to get lost among all the streets and buildings that make this city so amazing. And that's what we did after, we started walking and we reached Volksgarten, a small garden, right in front of the Parliament This building was once again breathtaking. After the completely necessary and mandatory photoshoot, and after getting frozen by the 0 degrees, it was time for lunch and some heating!
Próxima paragem: Rathaus. Há quem lhe chame os Paços do Concelho, mas eu prefiro chamar-lhe a Câmara Municipal. Na altura em que lá chegámos estava a ser montada uma feira de Inverno na praça à sua frente, logo não deu para chegar muito perto, mas foi o suficiente para ficarmos apaixonadas por este edifício. Com a atmosfera que se fazia sentir à volta foi ainda mais especial ir àquele local, pois já se podiam ver crianças a patinar na pista de gelo, pessoas a comer e a beber nas banquinhas de madeira e a roda gigante a ficar iluminada. Como escurece muito cedo, por volta das 17h, antes disso já toda a cidade começa a ficar iluminada e ainda mais bonita!
Next stop: Rathaus. The Town Hall. By the time we got there a Winter street market was being set right in front of it, so we couldn't go near, but it was enough to get in love with this building. With all the atmosphere around it, it was even more special to go there, because we could already see some children ice skating, people eating and drinking in the little wood stands and the ferris wheel getting illuminated. As it gets dark really early, around 5pm, before that the entire city starts to get illuminated and even prettier!
Depois disso voltámos para trás, com o objectivo de ir ver o Museu de História Natural e o Museu de História da Arte, dois edifícios completamente idênticos por fora, um à frente do outro, localizados numa praça lindíssima, onde também se situa o Museum Quartier (com mais alguns museus que decidimos passar à frente, por não nos interessarem tanto). Acabámos por descobrir que o Museu de História Natural estava fechado às segundas-feiras, por isso ficámos pelo de História de Arte. E realmente a senhora que nos deu essa informação tinha razão, este museu por dentro era magnífico e tinha de ser visitado quando em Viena, e se não for pelo conteúdo, pelo menos pela arquitectura.
After that we went back, with the purpose of going to the Natural History Museum and the Art History Museum, two completely identical buildings on the outside, located in a beautiful square, where also the Museum Quartier is located (with a few more museums which we decided to skip, because they weren't that interesting for us). We ended up discovering that the Natural History Museum was closed on Mondays, so we went to the Art History one. And actually the lady who gave us that information was right, this museum was magnificent and had to be visited while in Vienna, at least for the architecture, if not for the content itself.
Depois de visitarmos o museu, voltámos a pé para a zona da Ópera, que era bastante perto, para apanharmos o autocarro que dava a volta à cidade, os chamados HOP ON HOP OFF. Fizemos uma última tentativa para ver se a Ópera já estaria aberta, mas não tivemos sucesso. Qual foi o nosso espanto quando de repente somos abordadas por um senhor vestido com a sua capa preta e com uma pasta na mão, a perguntar se gostaríamos de ir assistir ao espectáculo de hoje na Ópera. "O quê? Como assim? Mas quem és tu? Será algo ilegal? Será que devemos arriscar? E vamos assim vestidas? Não temos tempo para ir trocar de roupa!" foram as perguntas que fizemos imediatamente! O senhor rapidamente nos explicou que os bilhetes para a Ópera eram vendidos na rua por eles, as portas só abriam antes da hora do espectáculo e se quiséssemos ir ver o bailado, podíamos ver também a Ópera por dentro e juntávamos o útil ao agradável. Em relação à roupa, não havia qualquer problema irmos casuais (casual leia-se botas UGG, calças de ganga e gorro na cabeça), pois não existia esse conceito de ir super formal à Ópera em Viena, logo não haveria qualquer problema. Acabámos por esquecer completamente o autocarro (como é óbvio não pensei duas vezes assim que ouvi a palavra "ballet"!) e ainda comprámos os bilhetes com desconto de 20€. Como o espectáculo era dali a 2 horas, parámos para lanchar no Café Mozart e quando chegou a hora, fomos ver a La Fille Mal Gardée, um bailado acompanhado pela orquestra ao vivo, e foi uma das noites mais especiais da minha vida! Recomendo mesmo guardarem uma noite para ir à Ópera se alguma vez forem a Viena. Para mim foi um sonho tornado realidade e foi absolutamente mágico!
After we visited the museum, we walked back to the Opera, which was really close, to get a tour bus around the city, the so called HOP ON HOP OFF. We tried one last time to see if the Opera was open, but had no success. Suddenly we are approached by this gentleman wearing a black cape and holding a folder, asking if we wanted to go to tonight's show in the Opera. "What? But who are you? What do you mean? Is it illegal maybe? Should we take the risk? And we go dressed like this? We don't have time to change!" were the first questions that popped on our minds! The gentleman quickly explained to us that the Opera tickets are sold on the streets by them, the doors would only open before the show and that if we wanted to see the show, we could also see the Opera inside. Concerning our clothes, there was no problem at all on going casual (read UGGs, jeans and beanie), because there was not that concept of going formal to the Opera in Vienna, so there was no problem. We ended up totally forgetting about the bus (obviously as soon as I heard the word "ballet" I didn't think twice!) and we even got the tickets 20€ cheaper. As we had to wait for 2 hours, we stopped to eat something in the Mozart Cafe and once it was time, we went to see La Fille Mal Gardée, a ballet with the orchestra live, and it was one of the most special nights of my life! I really recommend saving one night to go to the Opera if you're ever in Vienna. For me it was a dream come true and it was magical!
