Hoje continuamos a nossa viagem por Viena (podem ver a primeira parte aqui). No segundo dia decidimos ir directamente a um dos palácios mais famosos da cidade, e visita obrigatória, Schloss Belvedere. Visto que todos os dias saíamos do hotel por volta das 9h da manhã e só voltávamos à noite, depois de jantar, várias camadas de roupa eram obrigatórias para passar o dia inteiro na rua. Pelo menos três, mais um bom cachecol, gorro e luvas (que sinceramente serviam de pouco com os -2 graus que se sentiam logo de manhã)!
Today we continue our journey around Vienna (you can check out the first part here). On the second day we decided to go straight to one of the most famous palaces in the city, and a mandatory visit, Schloss Belvedere. Usually we left the hotel around 9am and we would only be back at night, after dinner, so several layers were necessary to handle the cold during an entire day out. At least three, plus a good scarf, a beanie and gloves (although they didn't do much with the -2 degrees felt in the early morning)!
O Palácio Belvedere divide-se em duas partes, o Alto Belvedere e o Baixo Belvedere. Porém, são ambos maravilhosos tanto por fora como por dentro e nós conseguimos entrar nos dois, tendo passado bastante tempo a admirar cada detalhe do seu interior. Como são situados numa zona mais ampla, há muito mais vento e o frio é assim muito mais difícil de suportar (reparem que todos os lagos ou fontes estão vazias ou completamente congeladas). Este palácio situa-se também numa zona mais afastada, por isso se o hotel for no centro, como era o caso do nosso, o melhor é apanhar o metro para ir para lá (muito obrigada aos fantásticos recepcionistas do nosso hotel que todos os dias nos ajudaram e deram indicações que foram preciosas!).
Belvedere Palace is divided in two parts, High Belvedere and Low Belvedere. However, they are wonderful on the outside as they are on the inside and we managed to go to both of them, spending a lot of time admiring each detail on their inside. As they are located in a wide area, there's a lot more wind and the cold is much more difficult to bear (notice that all the lakes and fountains are empty or completely frozen). This palace is also far from the city, so if the hotel is in the centre like ours, the best thing to do is go by metro (thank you so much to the amazing receptionists from our hotel that every single day helped us and gave us instructions that were precious!).
O metro como sempre foi muito rápido e deixou-nos mesmo na entrada do Alto Belvedere. Porém, houve alguma coisa que nos suscitou o interesse quando estávamos a caminho... Aqueles momentos à turista em que vemos algo bonito, chamamos a atenção da pessoa que vai connosco e depois se ouvem dois suspiros "ahhhhhhh" e as restantes pessoas do metro ficam a olhar para nós, já fartos de passar por ali e sem perceber muito bem o porquê de tanta admiração. Foi mais ou menos isso que aconteceu (tirando as outras mil vezes durante o resto da viagem). Mas juro que teve uma razão de ser! Entre os prédios e a agitação do metro e da cidade avistámos a Karlskirche e ficámos logo com o bichinho: "a seguir temos de ir ali!".
The metro was as usual really fast and left us right in the entrance of the High Belvedere. However, there was something that caught our eye when we were on the way there... Those tourist moments when we see something beautiful, we get the other person's attention and then you hear two sighs "ahhhhh" and the rest of the people in the metro just look at you, wondering why so much admiration. That was more or less what happened (and a thousand times more during the rest of the trip). But I swear it deserved it! In the middle of all the buildings and the metro and city excitement we saw Karlskirche and we decided right away: "next we have to go there!".
E foi o que fizemos. Fomos logo a seguir descobrir onde era a tão famosa igreja por onde tínhamos passado e quando chegámos ficámos maravilhadas com tanta beleza. A igreja mais bonita que eu já vi na minha vida! Até pode parecer que estou a exagerar, mas acreditem quando vos digo que as fotos não fazem justiça! A somar a isso, ainda tivemos a possibilidade de ir até ao topo da igreja e apreciar os frescos do tecto de perto e ter uma vista panorâmica da cidade. E por ali ficámos maravilhadas, até nos dar a fome, porque como aconteceu quase todos os dias, até nos esquecíamos que tínhamos de comer.
And that's what we did. We went straight away to find out where was that famous church we just saw and when we got there we were amazed with such beauty. The most beautiful church I have ever seen in my life! It may even seem overreacting, but trust me when I tell you that the pictures don't do it justice! Adding to that, we had the opportunity to go to the top of the church and enjoy the paintings on the ceiling and the panoramic view of the city. And we just stood there in wonder, until we were hungry, because just like every day, we almost forgot we had to eat.
Depois de almoço decidimos aventurar-nos pelas ruas de comércio (não, não fomos às compras!) e aproveitámos para passar por uma das mais conhecidas, a Graben, onde se encontra todo o tipo de lojas, desde souvenirs a marcas de luxo. O nosso objectivo era chegar à Stephansdom, a catedral mais emblemática de Viena. Mas esta viagem foi feita de imprevistos, e Viena pregou-nos mais uma partida. Tínhamos no nosso roteiro o famoso Palácio de Inverno, mas ainda não nos tínhamos dedicado a procurá-lo no mapa de forma a ir visitá-lo. Mas não faz mal, no meio destas ruas de comércio tão engraçadas aparece o Palácio de Inverno, bem escondido e à nossa espera. Isto é que é sorte :)
After lunch we decided to venture through the commerce streets (no, we didn't go shopping!) and we went through one of the most famous, Graben, where you can find all types of stores, from souvenirs to luxury. Our goal was to go to Stephansdom, the most emblematic cathedral in Vienna. But this trip was made of unexpected situations, so Viena gave us one more. We had in our plans to go to the famous Winter Palace, but we still hadn't decided to look for it on the map and to go visit it. But don't worry, in the middle of these cute little streets the Winter Palace appears, hidden and waiting for us. Talk about being lucky :)
"Meu deus, mas nesta cidade cada palácio é mais bonito do que o anterior?" pensámos nós quando começámos a explorar o Palácio de Inverno (e só íamos no segundo dia). Quem diria que no meio dos prédios havia este palácio tão magnífico? A entrada e as escadarias são todas em branco, como se estivéssemos a entrar num palácio feito de gelo, mas depois as salas são todas revestidas a dourado, sendo que cada sala tem uma cor diferente. Ficámos apaixonadas por cada detalhe e podíamos ter ficado ali a noite toda, se não tivéssemos souvenirs para ir comprar claro.
"Oh my god, but in this city each palace is prettier than the next?" so we thought when we started exploring the Winter Palace (and it was still the second day). Who would say that in the middle of the buildings there was this magnificent palace? The entrance and the stairs are all in white, like we were walking into an ice palace, but then all the rooms are coated in gold, having each room a different color. We were in love by each detail and we could have stayed there the entire night, if we didn't have souvenirs to buy of course.
No final disto tudo ainda encontrámos a Stephansdom, mas como no dia seguinte voltámos lá, no próximo post eu mostro-vos as fotos tiradas durante o dia.
In the end of the day we found the Stephansdom, but on the next day we went there again, so in the next post I'll show you the pictures in the light of day.
