Espero que tenham começado bem a semana. E como sabem, temos andado na nossa jornada de maquilhagem e assim continuaremos. A semana passada tivemos como tema a base e hoje temos o pó.

I hope you had a good start of the week. And as you know, we've been having our makeup journey and we'll continue. Last week we had the foundation as theme and today we have the powder.

 

A aplicação do pó é o passo a seguir à base. O pó serve para dar um acabamento mate ao rosto, ajudando também a manter toda a maquilhagem por mais tempo e eliminando qualquer vestígio de brilho, por isso é um passo obrigatório para as peles oleosas, mas pode e deve ser utilizado por todos os tipos de pele.

The application of powder is the next step after foundation. Powder is good to give a matte finish to the face, it also helps to keep all the makeup and eliminates any trace of brightness, so it’s an obligatory step to the ones with oily skin, but it can and should be used by all types of skin.

Devemos escolher um pó num tom o mais semelhante ao nosso tom de pele. Se querem dar um efeito bronzeado, podem escolher um pó ligeiramente mais escuro que a pele, mas têm que ter muito cuidado na aplicação, pois não se podem esquecer de aplicar no pescoço, peito, perto das orelhas e onde for mais necessário, para não ficarem com aquele "efeito máscara".

We should choose a powder in a tone as similar as our skin tone. If you want to give a tan effect, you can choose a powder slightly darker than your skin, but you have to be very careful in the application, you can’t forget to apply in the neck, chest, near the ears and where it's needed the most, in order not to stay with the "mask effect".

  

      

Não há mesmo nenhuma técnica para a aplicação de pó, mas claro que existem algumas dicas: devemos aplicar o pó em todo o rosto, incluindo no pescoço, peito e junto às orelhas; este é um produto que tem de ser aplicado com moderação e com movimentos suaves usando um pincel; antes do pincel entrar em contacto com o rosto deve-se dar umas leves batidas neste, para que o pó em excesso saia, pois como este é um produto de acabamento, quando em excesso na pele acaba por realçar as rugas de expressão e fica com um ar pouco natural; nos locais em que temos a pele mais oleosa podemos aplicar uma segunda dose de produto, geralmente é na zona T e por baixo dos olhos, para fixar o corrector; por fim, é muito importante que a pele esteja hidratada, se não com a aplicação do pó este pode começar a “escamar” devido à sua secura. 

There’s no technique to apply powder, but of course there are some tips: we apply the powder all over the face, including the neck, chest and around the ears; this is a product that must be applied sparingly and with gentle strokes using a brush; before the brush has contact with the face we should give light strikes to the excess powder leaves the brush, because it’s a finishing product and the excess in the skin eventually enhances expression wrinkles and gives a unnatural look. In places where we have oilier skin we can apply a second dose of product, usually in the T-zone and under the eyes, to set the concealer; finally, it’s very important that the skin is hydrated, if it's not with the application of the powder it can begin to "flake" because of its dryness.

Existem ainda vários tipos de pó, e apesar de desempenharem todos a mesma função existem algumas diferenças entre eles.

There are various types of powder, and although they all have the same function there are some differences between them. 

• Pó Compacto: O pó compacto é uma das vertentes que cobre melhor as imperfeições da pele. Por ser um produto de acabamento pode ser utilizado em qualquer tipo de pele. Normalmente vêm em embalagens como as da imagem, o que se torna ideal para transportar diariamente e ter sempre por perto para pequenos retoques.
• Compact Powder: The compact powder is one of the best to cover skin imperfections. Because it has a finishing look it can be used in any type of skin. It usually comes in packages like the picture, which makes it ideal to carry daily and always have around to finishing touches.

• Pó Solto: O pó solto promove uma aplicação mais leve, por ser mais fino permite um efeito mais subtil e aveludado. Para quem gosta de um acabamento natural este é o produto ideal. Deve ser aplicado com um pincel e subtilmente.
• Loose Powder: The loose powder promotes a lighter application, being thinner allows a more subtle and velvety effect. For those who like a natural finish this is the ideal product. It should be applied with a brush and subtly.

 

•  Pó Mineral: Ainda na categoria de pó solto, temos a versão mineral. Esta é uma versão mais natural e menos agressiva para a pele, pois o pó mineral é feito com produtos extraídos da terra e óleos hidratantes, sendo assim um produto perfeito para as peles mais sensíveis. Outro benefício deste produto é a capacidade de absorver o excesso de oleosidade. Com a sua textura extra fina não obstrui os poros e dá um acabamento natural à pele.
• Mineral Powder: Still in the loose powder category, we have the mineral version. This one is more natural and less aggressive to the skin, because the powder is made with mineral products extracted from the earth and moisturizing oils, thus a perfect product to sensitive skin. Another benefit of this product is the ability to absorb excessive oils. With its extra fine texture, it doesn’t clog the pores and gives a natural finish look to the skin.

Temos ainda uma recente inovação na categoria de pós, o já conhecido Pó Translúcido.

We also have a recent innovation in the category of powders, the Translucent Powder.

O pó translúcido dá um toque final à maquilhagem, eliminando o brilho da pele e fixando toda a maquilhagem. Mas afinal o que é o pó translúcido perguntam vocês. Então eu passo a explicar, este é geralmente um pó solto, apesar de já existirem algumas versões compactas. Este pó existe em apenas dois tons, branco ou rosado, e forma uma espécie de “camada” transparente e fina sobre o rosto. Eu sei que pode parecer estranho irmos aplicar pó branco no rosto, mas ele tem esta coloração porque não possui qualquer pigmento de cor, como os pós comuns, e por isso fica incolor. Os mais modernos também oferecem um acabamento HD, produzidos originalmente para serem utilizados em transmissões de televisão e de alta resolução. Outra vantagem de ser translúcido é que se adapta a qualquer tom de pele. No entanto, as peles mais morenas e negras devem optar por um pó com pigmento de cor, pois o pó translúcido pode dar um toque acinzentado à pele.

The translucent powder gives a final touch to the makeup, eliminating the brightness of the skin and fixing any makeup. But what is the translucent powder you ask. I'll explain now, it's usually a loose powder, although there are already some compact versions. This powder is available only in two colors, white or pink, it forms a transparent and thin "layer" on the face. I know it may seem strange applying white powder on our face, but it has this coloration because it has no color pigment, like the common powders, and it's colorless. The most modern also offer an HD finish, originally produced to use on television broadcasts and of high resolution. Another advantage of being translucent, is that it adapts itself to any skin tone. However, the brown and black skins should opt for a color pigment powder, because the translucent powder can give a gray touch to the skin.

  

Este pó deve ser aplicado com um pincel estilo vassoura, para que o produto seja uniformemente espalhado.

This powder must be applied with a broom brush, in order to the product be evenly dispersed.

Não existem regras para aplicar este tipo de pó. Pode ser usado em todo o rosto, para dar um acabamento mate e bonito à pele. Pode ser aplicado em qualquer risco na zona T, onde a pele é mais oleosa. Uma dica muito importante é a aplicação do pó por baixo dos olhos e em redor da boca. Para aplicar nessas zonas devemos usar um pincel mais “fofo” para que o produto não se concentre e as linhas de expressão não fiquem excessivamente marcadas. 

There are no rules to use this type of powder. I can be used around the face to give a matte and beautiful finish to the skin. It may be applied in any risk in the T-zone, where the skin is oilier. A very important tip to apply powder under the eyes and around the mouth is to apply using a more "fluffy" brush so that the product doesn’t concentrate and create lines excessively marked.

Se aplicarmos o pó translúcido com um pincel que não seja denso e que deixe apenas uma leve camada no rosto, corremos o risco de cometer os erros que algumas pessoas já cometeram.

If we apply the translucent powder with a brush that isn’t dense and that leaves only a light coating on the face, we take the risk of making the mistakes that some people had committed already.

Como podem ver nas imagens, este é o aspecto que fica quando o pó é aplicado com um pincel fino ou estilo vassoura. Por isso, debaixo dos olhos e em redor da boca devemos sempre utilizar um típico pincel de pó, largo e denso, para que a camada de pó depositada no rosto seja leve e fina.

As you can see in the pictures, this is how it looks when the powder is applied with a thin or broom brush. Therefore, under the eyes and around the mouth we must always use a typical powder brush, broad and thick so that the powder layer deposited on the face is light and thin.

Vou agora falar-vos de alguns produtos.

Now I’ll talk about some products.
